The former Baroda Ranji captain told TOI that he has not been getting clear signals from the Congress for an election ticket. "I have been waiting to get some positive signals from Congress for fielding me as a candidate but there is no clear picture as of now. I always wanted to contest polls and serve the people and had apprised Congress leaders about my intentions," Martin said on Tuesday.
"I will wait for one more day. If my party doesn't give me mandate, I will go ahead and contest as independent from Sayajigunj constituency. I will fill in the candidate form by Thursday," Martin affirmed. The Congress has a couple of aspiring candidates for Sayajigunj seat and if Martin decides to contest independently, it would only mean more headache for the party.
