Arne Quinze – the stage name of Arne van Collie – is a sculptor, painter and conceptual artist, who makes installations in public space. He started out as a graffiti artist and worked for a while as a handyman: carpenter, plumber and electrician.
Quinze became known for placing Uchronia, a wooden construction of thirty meters high and sixty meters wide that he made together with Jan Kriekels and Maurice Engelen for the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert in the United States in 2006.
Later he built Cityscape in Brussels (2007), a year after that The Sequence, in wood and concrete, behind the Flemish Parliament, also in Brussels.
His works have been shown in New York, Miami, São Paulo, Milan and Verona. In Ostend and Paris, sculptures of his have been permanently placed in public space. Quinze works with a team of about ten people on his installations. In addition to architectural sculptures, they also make video installations that show his vision of society and how people see themselves in relation to society.

Burning Man has developed a Performance Safety Team (PST) that assists artists in the safe execution of open fire, flame effects, and pyrotechnic art installations. The Performance Safety Team brings artists, fire safety personnel, and industry professionals together, and consists at minimum of a Performance Safety Coordinator, an Emergency Services Department Fire Rescue Branch Chief, two licensed pyrotechnicians, a Ranger liaison, and various advisors. The goal is to communicate with, and provide experienced support for, artists pre-event and on-site, and ensure the safe use of fire and pyrotechnics at the Burning Man event.
